The Compound Presents 1ft @ 2s | Numero Dos

Tomorrow night, Saturday, April 14th from 7-10pm, The Compound is hosting its second annual surf art exhibition to benefit Mission Mexico, a children’s refuge in Southern Mexico.

The event is free, but bring your wallet. Trust me, some heavy hitters in the surf art world will be represented. This show is legit, offering collectors and enthusiasts a unique chance to pick up some iconographic work at great prices while supporting a good cause. The line up consists of Chris Lundy, Ryan Gamma, Matt Kurvin, Lance Trout, Juan Rodriguez, Spencer Reynolds, Nate Greco, Robbie Ball, Michael Adno, Jim Judsen, Jacob Shields, Clarke Harris, Cristina Tomas, Kristin Dowdy, Larry Mayo and more. 100% of money collected at the event from donations, tips, raffles, etc will benefit Mission Mexico.

Mission Mexico was started in November 2000, when Alan and Pamela Skuse left their home on the Sunshine Coast of Australia to volunteer at an orphanage in Tapachula. After 6 months, the organisation closed down. The Skuses faced a life-altering decision: return to Australia, or take on the overwhelming challenge of caring for the remaining 7 children full-time. Leaving the kids would mean sending them back to the streets, back to lives of abuse. They couldn’t do it. They stayed. They established their own refuge, Mission Mexico, and it continues to save children today, 12 years later, thanks to the generous support of people like you.

Free food, free beer, art, music, friends and saving children. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. I’ll see you all there!
