About Me & You

Civilize the mind. Make savage the body.

Most people try to make life comfortable. Life is not intended to be comfortable. My purpose is to become comfortable with discomfort.

It's not a brand slogan. It's a challenge. It's imperative.

Make Savage is about the deliberate making of a person. Learning difficult things. Developing taste. Building strength. Working with your hands. Reading books that demand something from you. Practicing until what once felt impossible becomes second nature.

It is about seeking mastery with the knowledge that it is unattainable.

I have spent my life making and learning things. I have been a designer for more than twenty years. I write. I train Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I practice hand-lettering. I'm learning to sew and to make new things by hand. I'm trying to live a more analog life, not because I think it is superior, but because I fucking want to. Whatever you do, wherever lies your microcosmic subculture that is your passion, it is a metaphor for life.

You begin. You fail. You do it again. You fail again. Most of the time you love it. Sometimes you want to quit. But you don't. You continue. You continue to try.

You do it again.

Eventually, your hands, your mind, your body know something they didn't know before.

That matters.

And those of us who know this, we are our own subculture. Whether you train jiu-jitsu, play chess, crochet, or play the bagpipes. We are the same.

The world is increasingly designed to remove friction—make everything faster, easier, more convenient, and more disposable. Make Savage is a defiant stance in opposition.

Read, write, fight, make. Try.

I want to make things for you that you will keep. And if you don't want them anymore, I want you to send them back to me so I can make them into something else.

And, yes, of course, I want money. I'm tired of doing what other people tell me to do. I want to do whatever I want, and it is this. This place you have landed. I believe money follows authenticity. So I will strive for authenticity in all things. And if I fail, you'll tell me with your words or your actions. Then I will adapt. And we will navigate these waters together.

Let's become capable people — Educated in mind. Skilled in body. Curious. Disciplined. Independent. Difficult to diminish.

There is always something else to learn.
